Please read all the information below….. These huge butcher’s blocks are made to order and are 100% genuine old English oak. They kindly sent me pictures of them in there home; they were over the moon with this butchers block and you can see why. A lot of time, love and experience have gone into making these very special items. I specialize in reclaimed materials, not just anyone can work with reclaimed materials there is a lot to know before you can make something last. Those of you who have bought a reclaimed item from an inexperienced person will know this, as the wood will split, shrink and move after the item has been in the house for a few weeks with the heating on. I have 15 years experience of working with reclaimed materials; these butcher’s blocks have been made correctly and will last a life time. Each one will be slightly different due to the character of the reclaimed English oak but equally as beautiful. I hand pick every piece so I know each butchers block is perfect and unique. There is limited amount of this stunning timber so be sure to order before it’s to late. I have been making furniture for over 15 years and worked with some top designers and I must admit this is one of the best items I have ever made. The top of the butcher’s block is made from one slab of solid oak 3-4 inches thick 24 inches wide; this will have been sliced from the trunk of the tree and kiln dried. This is not pieces of oak glued together like most you see on here. This is one piece of solid oak. The top has a 7-8 inch frame making it look very chunky. It is a huge 55 inches long and it stands at 35 inches high. (CAN BE MADE ANY SIZE)The legs and frame are a huge 4 inches by 4 inches and the slats on the bottom shelf are 1 and a quarter inches thick. It is also a lot bigger than it looks in the picture or when you see it on a tape measure. T his is a very chunky solid piece of furniture and it will take 2-3 strong people to lift it. This is an honest genuine piece of furniture made by an experienced furniture maker with 15 years working with reclaimed timber, It would look stunning from a country kitchen to a contemporary kitchen, you can see all the dowel joints in the frame every one is welcome to see how gorgeous this piece is and it will be a talking point in any kitchen, this butchers block will out live anyone reading this and it can be sanded in years to come to bring it back to life so it is a life time investment. The colour of the butcher’s block is totally natural and has not been stained. The natural colour for new oak is light and the reason this butcher’s block is darker, is because of the age of the timber. The only coating this butcher’s block has had, is 4 coats of the finest Danish oil to protect the wood and make it waterproof and food safe. If you look at the pictures of the top you will see how beautiful the grain is. Reclaimed oak is a lot harder than new oak and so the wood on this butcher’s block will never twist or split. Here is a new Premium heat resistant, stainless steel rail and 12 meat hooks with a life time guarantee, which is in keeping with the overall style of the butchers block. The hooks can be used for a large variety of items such as pans, towels, knives and kitchen utensils. The rail and hooks are made from stainless steel so this is again food safe and will never rust or dis-colour. There some stainless steel studs on the bottom shelf and are very decorative. He new brackets on the top, are also made from stainless steel which match the rail and hooks. This provides protection to the corners of the top, again this will not rust or dis-colour and has been fitted with flat head steel nails.
