The PRINCE OYSTERDATE automatic (self-winding on the wrist) model (REFERENCE 75203) from 1984 has a beautiful ETA 2824-1 AUTOMATIC movement with a whopping 25 Jewels. Time keeping is currently very good, keeping to within around 2.5 minutes per day so a service soon would be beneficial. We do recommend that a service prior to daily use be carried out to ensure proper long term function going forward. The body of the case is ALL STAINLESS STEEL with a solid 18 Carat Gold FLUTED BEZEL and gold SCREW DOWN crown. This has a 34mm diameter (without the crown) making this a perfect midsized time piece for the more refined gentlemans wrist. It comes presented on a superb quality 19mm TOP QUALITY Italian leather strap which elegantly tapers to 16mms at the ROLEX BUCKLE. With a luxurious CHAMPAGNE DIAL and beautiful solid gold FLUTED BEZEL, this really is a standalone piece, reflective of the exceptional design team being employed by ROLEX throughout this period. Perfect in a variety of environments, this looks just at home with a woolly jumper and jeans as it does in a sharp suit or smart casual setting. The Tudor Brand The Tudor brand emerged as Rolex attempted to satisfy the demand for lower priced, but still high quality, luxury wristwatches in the immediate post-war years. With rationing and austerity including an outright ban on the import of gold for jewellery purposes into the UK, the company realised that profits could be made by offering a reliable product, with the same pedigree and all the patented features that had made the Rolex Oyster such a commercial success in the inter-war period, for a less expensive price. The resulting watches were of a very high grade, to the extent that in many instances, the disparity between them and their equivalents in full Rolex form was very little indeed. Today, vintage Tudors are very much sought after in their own right by the Rolex collecting fraternity. The English horological magazine QP tipped vintage Tudor as the next big thing and all the evidence seems to suggest that this is indeed the case. The dial is signed for TUDOR PRINCE OYSTERDATE at the top and ROTOR SELF WINDING under the hands. At the very bottom it says SWISS. We have the classic Tudor SHIELD logo representing the 12 position. The backdrop is a dreamy GOLD CHAMPAGNE tone giving this the luxury feel that it clearly exudes. This has the classic DATE aperture at the 3 position and thin elegant gold hour batons and hands. The Oysterdate remains one of the most coveted and collected of all Rolex models and is an enduring design that is always flawlessly contemporary. The classic oyster case is in lovely original condition and bears the magic signature ORIGINAL OYSTER CASE BY ROLEX GENEVA on the back. The solid 18K FLUTED BEZEL gives this the next level luxury that we expect to find with any Rolex item. It also bears an engraved ROLEX CROWN logo. The serial number 219 and the REFERNCE 75203 number appear on both the top and bottom lugs. Please also note the ROLEX CROWN symbol on the SCREW DOWN CROWN. The movement is the ETA 2824-1, a superb calibre carefully chosen by Rolex for their Tudor Prince models. It is currently in great working order, keeping good time to within about 2 minutes per 24 hours. It comes on a BRAND NEW TOP QUALITY 19mm Italian leather Dark Chestnut strap with a genuine ROLEX BUCKLE. Cosmetically, there are few condition issues to consider. Overall this looks superb and is in completely ORIGINAL CONDITION which in itself is a rare thing! There are surface marks in places – for example down the sides – but this is ALL STAINLESS STEEL and can be fully polished back to factory standard if the new owner wishes it. The dial and crystal are in superb condition with nothing to report. Please also bear in mind that the photos are 1mm macro and show a lot of detail you wouldnt otherwise see with the naked eye.
